• I’m running because working families have been left behind for far too long. I’ve spent my career fighting for people who are being squeezed by rising costs, stagnant wages, and systems designed to benefit the wealthy at everyone else’s expense. I believe every Michigander deserves stability, dignity, and the chance to build a secure future, and I’ve proven I know how to deliver that at the local level.

In this state house I will:

    • Fight to raise wages, eliminate subminimum wages, and strengthen worker protections

    • Expand state investment in affordable housing, childcare access, RX Kids, medical debt relief, and eviction prevention programs.

    • Hold corporations accountable when they take public dollars without delivering public good.

  • I believe healthcare is a human right, and I’m committed to building a system where no one is forced to choose between medical care and financial survival. I’ve already helped eliminate medical debt for thousands of Kalamazoo residents, and I’m ready to take that fight statewide. Everyone deserves care without deductibles, copays, or fear.

In the State House, I will:

    • Advocate for a true single-payer system.

    • Expand Medicaid and protect reproductive freedom, including abortion access without financial barriers.

    • Support nurses and healthcare workers through safe staffing rations, limits on forced overtime, and workplace-violence protections.

  • Housing is the foundation of a healthy life, and too many families are being priced out or pushed out. I’ve led some of the most ambitious housing efforts in Michigan, from the $23.3M Keys to Kalamazoo framework to the Landing Place transitional family shelter, to building more than 1,400 new units of housing funded through the Homes for All Millage. I know what it takes to build housing systems that work.

In the state house, I will:

    • Increase state funding for affordable housing construction and rehabilitation.

    • Support lifting state bans so cities can use tools like rent stabilization and just-cause eviction protections.

    • Expand rental assistance, eviction-prevention programs, and tenant protects; including a “renters bill of rights.”

  • I believe Democracy works best when everyday people, not billionaires or monopolies, shape our future. I support reforms that expand voting access, reduce dark money’s influence on our government, and modernize Michigan’s election systems. I have already pledged to not take a dime from corporate PACs, their lobbyists, or their executives.

In the state house, I will:

    - Support rank choice voting, public financing, and full disclosure of political spending

    - Expand voting access and protect election workers and administrators

    - Extend FOIA to the Governor and Legislature to increase transparency

    - Ban publicly subsidized utilities from donating to political campaigns

    - Strengthen disclosure laws so all political spending, including dark money, is transparent

  • Large corporations benefit from Michigan’s workforce, infrastructure, and public services; and they must pay their fair share. I support modernizing our tax code, closing loopholes, and enforcing compliance so everyday people aren’t subsidizing corporate profits.

In the state house, I will:

    • Strengthen corporate tax transparency and enforcement tools

    • Tie subsidies and tax abatements to strong labor standards and community benefits

    • Enforce clawbacks when corporations fail to meet job-quality or investment commitments.

  • Michigan families pay some of the highest utility rates in the Midwest while enduring some of the worst reliability. I refuse utility money because I believe regulated monopolies should serve the public, not buy influence. No more rate hikes without performance. No more outages without consequences.

In the State House, I will:

    • Block rate increase until utilities meet strict reliability standards

    • Require automatic compensation for outages and ban shutoffs during extreme weather

    • Ban utility political spending

  • Data centers are expanding rapidly across the country, and Michigan is being targeted because of our water, land, and energy resources. I believe we need to slow this down and take a responsible, community-first approach. I support a statewide moratorium on new data center constructions so policymakers can fully understand the impacts before we lock ourselves into decades-long deals that could raise utility costs, strain our water systems, and burden nearby neighborhoods. If data centers are going to exist in Michigan, they must meet the highest standards for clean energy, water protection, and community benefits. If we cannot guarantee those protections, I will fight new data centers tooth and nail.

In the state house, I will:

    - Push for a statewide moratorium on new data centers until Michigan has strong and enforceable standards in place.

    - Require strict limits on water use, 100% clean energy sourcing, responsible siting, and binding community benefits agreements before any project moves forward

    - Increase transparency and regulation so data centers pay their full share for infrastructure and cannot shift costs onto ratepayers or undermine grid reliability.

  • I’ve spent years advancing climate action and environmental protection in Kalamazoo, securing our first Climate Action Plan, protecting an $18.9M EPA climate resilience grant from the Trump Administration, and expanding conservation land. I believe Michigan must lead the nation in clean energy, water protection, and environmental justice.

In the State House, I will:

    • Defend and strengthen the Clean Energy and Jobs Act to reach 100% clean energy by 2040.

    • Pass Polluter Pay laws, expand PFAS cleanup funding, and require cumulative-impact permitting

    • Invest in modern water infrastructure, septic replacement, and statewide lead service line removal.

  • I believe every Michigander deserves access to nature, from urban parks to protected forests and waterways. I’ve helped expand conservation land in Kalamazoo County, and I’m committed to protecting Michigan’s natural heritage for future generations.

In the State House, I will:

    • Support protecting 30% of Michigan’s land and water by 2030

    • Oppose any effort to shrink or weaken protections for public lands

    • Expand funding for parks, trails, and equitable access to nature.

  • I believe communities should be safe, walkable, and connected. My work with local transit systems and land-use planning has shown me how transportation policy shapes opportunity, safety, and climate resilience.

In the state house, I will:

    • Expand public transit, sidewalks, and protected bike lanes.

    • Support Complete Streets and zoning flexibility for walkable, mixed-use neighborhoods

    • Invest in EV charging infrastructure and clean mobility options statewide.

  • I believe every Michigan resident deserves access to basic identification so they can work, access housing, pick up prescriptions, enroll their kids in school, and can fully participate in their community. Kalamazoo County has already proven that local ID programs work; thousands of people use them every day. A statewide version would make Michigan more inclusive, efficient, and connected.

In the state house, I will:

    • Support a statewide “ID for All” program modeled after Kalamazoo County’s successful system

    • Ensure the program includes strong privacy protections and low to no cost access

    • Work with local governments to streamline implementation and remove barriers for residents.
